Pantone colour of the year 2019: Living Coral

January 7th, 2019 by Jemma

“Vibrant yet mellow” is how Pantone describes this year’s Colour of the Year. We think that’s a pretty succinct summary of Living Coral (16-1546), the pink-orange hue guaranteed to be a key influence on design, fashion, packaging and graphic industries the world over in 2019.

Admittedly, at first glance I was reminded of the unwise, stipple painted downstairs bathroom from my childhood home and garish Mediterranean style terracotta walls from the 1990’s. But actually, with a modern eye, Living Coral can be warm, welcoming and stylish. Try it alongside bright white, cool grey, clean gold and lime green (yes, really).
