Storage Solutions: Bed linen.
August 30th, 2019 by JemmaYou’ve purchased your dream (excuse the pun) bed linen and with a little TLC it should last you a very, very long time. We’ve put together a definitive guide to caring for your bed linen, but what is the best way to store it?
- Store matching sets in their pillowcases. I love this idea and have started doing it at home. Press and fold your entire set of bed linen and pop it inside one of the pillowcases from that set. It serves two purposes: 1) it’s tidier than folding and stacking everything separately in your cupboard and 2) it saves you having to scramble around finding all the matching pieces to your bed linen set when you’re changing the beds in a hurry!

- We would strongly advise against storing your bed linen in any kind of box or container that has been coloured or dyed. If it’s left in there too long, or it gets wet, or it’s in the sun, the colour may transfer onto your bed sheets. If you’re one of those who lines their drawers with last Christmas’ wrapping paper, please don’t store your sheets there either! Same reason. Instead, invest in some containers or baskets that are white or made from natural fibres to allow your sheets to breathe whilst in storage without damaging or marking them.

- Label those containers! If you can’t see into them, why not get crafty and make some label to attach to your bed linen detailing which set it is and/or whose bed it’s for. For example, “Navy pinstripe – Ben’s double”.
