It’s that time of year again, where everyone’s scrambling to buy their Christmas tree and gathering the whole family together to decorate it. It’s easy to do the same thing year after year, recycling the same decorations and using the same tired old tinsel.
Well, this post will give you a few ideas on how to think outside the box when it c0mes to decorating your tree, and will inspire you to do something a little different and more original…

Ombre
I love this idea of creating an ombre look with your decorations, slowly changing the gradient to give the impression of dip-dyed decorating. Perhaps this is something you could even do with the decorations you already have.

Stick to a theme
You don’t have to decorate your Christmas tree in conventional colours – just pick one and stick to it. I like blue because it’s not stereotypical but it’s just festive enough.

Christmas teepee
Who needs a tree when you can get a teepee? I love how simple this idea is. Just grab some old bits of wood and cut them into the same lengths. It doesn’t need to be as tall as this, but I think the height of this ‘treepee’ is perfect. Then decorate with fairylights and tinsel, and you’ve got your very own unique Christmas ornament.

Log tree
This is really thinking outside the box, and it’s the perfect fit for a modern home. The sticks all slot together to make a gorgeous shape, and the white and silver decorations add to the contemporary look. A hard one to replicate but definitely worth it!
