In this chilly weather it’s only appropriate to dress your house accordingly. I think taxidermy, although (arguably) unethical, is a cool and stylish way of dressing up your home for winter.
The warm colour of the fur will add a depth to your space, and it’s a lot of fun wandering around old charity or antique shops finding the perfect piece to suit your home.
Here are a few ideas on how to accessorise your space with bite…

Traditional
The traditional deer head will always look effortlessly cool, especially if you pair it with this New York loft. Team with simplistic, modern furniture to complete the look.

Home office
If you need something to spice up your home office, look no further than a kudu head hanging from your wall. It’s the ultimate decadent accessory and will work perfectly if you’re looking to add a touch of masculinity to your space.

In the bedroom
For the ultimate shock factor, go for some really weird animals. This mother of a buffalo suspended above your bed would freak out the most resilient of guests, especially paired with a precarious peacock balancing on the rafters. Just make sure they’re on the wall behind your bed so you don’t get a shock when you wake up.

Quirky
If you don’t want your taxidermy accessory to completely overwhelm your space, choose a small but quirky example. How about this little squirrel in a boat? It won’t shock guests and will be a fantastic talking point!

Incidentally, if you ever happen to be in Alberta, Canada, there is a world famous gopher museum. The town was overrun with them so some clever soul stuffed them and put them in strange scenarios – weddings, boxing matches. Definitely worth a look if you’re in the area!
