Colour combinations

January 5th, 2015 by Debbie

The festive season means that the rulebook is thrown out the window, with kids decorating the tree and different coloured tinsels being thrown together with multi-coloured lights. The bright colours of Christmas have made me notice all the colour combinations out there that go so well together but are under-utilised.

Here are a few of my favourite colour schemes that should be seen together more often…

Mustard and teal

This is one of my favourite colour combos and has been for a while. Mustard and teal are both really strong, bold hues but they complement each other perfectly. A great way of showing off the two is to paint a feature wall teal and use mustard accessories in and around it.

Orange and brown

This combination is unusual but is a fantastic flash back to my favourite interior era – the 70s. There are some beautiful accessories and materials out there that combine these colours, like this stunning wallpaper. It’s so stylish and you won’t see this in many homes!

 Grey and purple

For a modern look, grey and purple is utterly stylish and often overlooked as two colours that go fantastically together. A great way to introduce it to your home is to accessorise with scatter cushions and flowers, or I love the idea of thick grey carpet with purple curtains.

Pink and white

Pink isn’t just a colour you can use to decorate a girls bedroom. It can look sophisticated and stylish, and you don’t need to cover your home from head to foot with it. I love the idea of painting a door in this colour and accessorising with different shades.
