Inspiration Post: 5 Beautiful Exposed Brick Walls

October 18th, 2013 by Debbie

I’ve got exposed brick fever at the moment. Revealing the original brickwork for just one wall in a room will instantly modernise it and give it that Shoreditch-warehouse feel that is right on trend at the moment.

Not only this, but it’s super easy to do and won’t cost you an arm and both legs. You could probably do it yourself at home if you’re handy with a chisel. Take a look at this WikiHow article if you fancy yourself a bit of a handy-man.

I hope this post inspires you to look into this yourself, especially if you have a room that is in desperate need of a quirky edge.

This hallway/reception area is given even more of a modern edge with the mounted bike rack – this is a seriously great idea, and if you don’t have a shed close by this is a safe and stylish way of storing your bikes.

2.)

Exposed Brick in Kitchen

Don’t you think this exposed brick makes the kitchen look even more homely? It goes extremely well with these accessories and gives the otherwise typical kitchen a novelty edge to it. Add in a chalk board for extra urban.

3.)

If you don’t want to sacrifice an entire room to the exposed brick Gods, you could just do it in the hallway. This is less risky as you don’t usually sit in a hallway, and in this case it works fantastically as it’s part of an open space. The bookshelf takes away any over-exposure and gives this look a subtle edge.

4.)

A slightly safer option is to paint a thin layer of white over the exposed brick. As you can see, it makes the room look brighter but doesn’t take away from the effect. This is a great option if you have high ceilings and don’t want to commit to a red brick wall in your living room.

5.)

Exposed Brick in Bedroom

I love exposed brick in the bedroom. It gives a laid-back ambience to the room and if you put it behind your bed you don’t even have to look at it while you’re watching TV. Again, whitewashing the brick will give the room an element of brightness. I love how this wall isn’t covered in white so you can still see the original coloured brick behind.
