March 2nd, 2015 by Debbie

Spring is just about in the air, and I keep finding my eye being drawn to big french windows and rustic dining tables perfect for an outdoor lunch with friends and family. French style is all about the outdoors -never over-groomed, it’s natural, breezy and light, just like spring.

Taking inspiration from French style is a great way of making your home summer-friendly, so have a look at some of these ideas to embrace the changing season…

French doors

Authentic, shabby-chic French doors add a real sense of summer to this bright and breezy kitchen. French style embraces neutral colours and pastels, and this white and pale blue combinations will put you in the mood for some spring cleaning.

French country

This gorgeous rustic look is all about classic, antique statement pieces with a few frills to add a bit of va va voom. It’s important not to overdo the little touches as it could look too busy. French country design often incorporates ruffles and distresses woodwork, a lovely contrast of pretty and rustic.

French dresser

Blush is a wonderfully Parisian colour and has been added in lovely accents to this central apartment. Teamed up with a French dresser and these beautiful silk floor length curtains, this space is a lovely nod to French decor without drowning the space in frills.

This beautiful shutter and sheer curtain combination makes for the ultimate in French window treatment. Distressed shutters are quintessentially Parisian, and voiles curtains are bright and breezy with a little frill to nod to the style.
