The Spring Invasion

Ever one to cling onto the idea of owning one “must have” item of clothing per season, mainly to avoid the crushing pressure (and debt) that comes with trying to be on trend 24/7, my hunt began! Soon I discovered that big, bold flowers really are everywhere at the moment from the catwalk; to wallpaper; stationary and beyond. Why not introduce some colourful blooms into your life this April and see if they don’t put a little “Spring” in your step.
Gucci’s much publicised Tropical Grandma (I coined that one myself) Spring Summer 16 campaign was positively drowning in flowers across both menswear and womenswear:
Similarly, the Dolce and Gabbana SS16 collection was full of sumptuous patterns that would look as good on your sofa or bed as they would in your wardrobe:
Speaking of catwalks, French fashion designer Christian Lacroix whose brand is synonymous with opulence, fantasy and glamour, has a wonderful range of rich, theatrical fabrics and wallpapers available to buy from Designers Guild. It doesn’t come cheap but if you crave the lavish and the unique then the House of Lacroix may just be for you. Don’t forget to speak to the Loom and Last if want anything made into curtains or blinds:
Or how about some artfully positioned blooms? A row of individual, blousy hydrangeas will look magnificent against a white wall, while a big, theatrical bunch of flowers will bring drama to a brightly wallpapered room:
