Wes Anderson Interiors
January 7th, 2015 by DebbieIn a somewhat unprompted theme, I recently watched a Tim Burton film (Big Eyes) which was very good and reminded me of Wes Anderson films, mainly because of the bright and vibrant colours and use of symmetry.
That got me thinking about the interior style inspiration you could take from Wes Anderson, so here are a few ideas of how to take his beautiful films and put a piece of them in your beautiful home… (If you haven’t heard of him I suggest you watch all of the below films that he directed!)

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Arguably one of the most visually inspiring of all the WA films, this film is full of ice cream shades and bold silhouettes. Grand front doors and large, statement furniture is a signature of the hotel and teaches us a lesson that pink and yellow make a great colour combo.

The Royal Tenenbaums
My personal WA favourite, the style in this film is unrivalled. From the costume design to the awesome decor, I already take inspiration from this. World maps, mismatched furniture and books piled up everywhere make a Tenenbaum house a home. And if you want to fully commit, paint your walls brown.

Fantastic Mr Fox
Fantastic Mr Fox is a stunning stop-motion film, something new for old Wes, but totally endearing and wonderfully told. This is perfect to use as inspiration for a children’s nursery – there’s so much art and craft out there along the theme of the film, and some of the sayings are truly inspirational: ‘We are all different but there’s something kind of fantastic about that, isn’t there?’

Moonrise Kingdom
If you’re looking for some 60s style in your home, look no further than this quirky film. I love the idea of having boxes full of old vinyl records on display in the living room and these bold, patterned curtains nod shamelessly to the swinging era.
